DESIGN COMMUNICATION

Design communication is a module that introduce design communication skills through architectural graphics and modeling and also to give a chance to explore skills in visualization and communication of architectural idea, space and form.

self reflection

For me, Design Communication is a chance to explore my creativity and improve my drawing skills. By undergoing this module, I learnt about the techniques to transform my idea to drawings in order to visualize it. It was a fun and meaningful journey yet a challenging one as I'm initially not good at drawings but I noticed my own improvements throughout the module.

I chose to have my Design Communication course fully online due to Covid-19 pandemic. Throughout the whole module, I found out that online learning is also a good alternative way to learn as I can be in my own comfy room and have my own comfortable environment of learning. Although sometimes the online system will have some laggy issues but it's just some small issues.

My lecturer and tutor, Dr. Lia and Ar. Carrol Lee, they both gave me a lot of guidance, advice and assistance through out the way, sometimes when I'm facing difficulties I'll message them via social media platforms to get help and every time they would assist me until I had my own solution.

PROJECT 1

Project 1 was to create a movie poster based on my own creativity with a specific theme. For me, I chose a horror and thriller genre as my theme for my poster, the movie is  about an evil spirit that haunts people's souls. It was an interesting project as I was able to explore my creativity and during the process I was covering the evil spirit's face because it spooks me all the time.

PROJECT 2

Project 2 was to learn how to draw orthographic drawings (floor plan. elevation and section), axonometric drawing and also perspective drawings (one point and two point). We were told to use Farnsworth House as our main building to draw. It was tricky along the way as there were many small floor tiles, but I still manage to complete it in time. My drawing skills really improve a lot by practicing these drawings.

PROJECT 3

Project 3 is an integration with our Architectural Design I final project, for Design Communication we just have to make a colored A1 presentation board of our studio project. It was a very simple and relaxing work I'm truly grateful for the hardwork of our lecturers to reduce our workload. Throughout this project I was able to explore some coloring techniques and ways to make a presentation board. and also I was able to record myself during my process of model making, I enjoyed watching myself focusing on my own project.

TUTORIAL ACTIVITIES

Tutorial activities are where we learn the basic techniques, without having these techniques, It will be hard for us to undergo our projects. These tutorial activities helped me to figure out my weaknesses in drawing and visualizing, therefore when I'm dong my projects I won't make the same mistakes again.
