AHT
ARCHITECTURE HISTORY & THEORY
Architecture history and theory is to strengthen our understanding of architectural theory through a consideration of intentions, concepts, patterns, disciplines, architectural language and contextual relationships through investigation from ancient architecture to modern architecture.
self reflection
AHT is a chance for me to gain my own architecture knowledge through analysis and research of ancient architecture to modern architecture. Looking at the transformation from ancient to modern is an amazing experience as I can get a lot of inspirations from some buildings introduced by the lecturers.
Due to Covid-19 pandemic, the module was fully conducted online. But by undergoing full online classes, I could have more time to revise the history and theories taught by the lecturers, I can have more time to go through daily notes and slides to strengthen my knowledge. My lecturers (Dr. Lia, Ms. Dee, Mr. Azim and Mr. Shawn) they gave their best to make our lectures a fun one even though it's conducted online, the lecture slides were creative and fun to watch which made me energetic during my classes. All information and knowledges are well pass down to us.
PROJECT 1
Project 1 was to understand the history and changes of architecture from pre-historic to age of enlightenment, I was asked to choose 1 building from each period (pre-historic, ancient Egyptian, ancient greece and rome, middle age and renaissance and age of enlightenment) and conduct a research to the specific building based on different aspects. Throughout the way, I can see the transformation and the unique of each period's architecture style.
PROJECT 2
Project 2 was a group project where me and my teammates (Tan Homng Chim, Way Pei Yu, Adric Teo, Nicholas Leang, Daniel Roshaidie, Mildred Choy and Matthew Chen) had to make an analysis report on two Malaysia buildings: Stadium Negara and Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. In this project, we knew that Malaysian Architecture have a lot of different influences from different architecture styles. Our group divide our task equally to each member and work together as one to make our project a success.
