CHALLENGES OF CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY IN

DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

The construction industry is one of the industries that play an important role in the development and enhancement of the economy as well as in the development of one's own country. Although the construction industry contributes to growth, progress and development in developing countries may present challenges and problems at the same time, such as socio-economic stress, institutional failure, chronic resource shortages and general inability to deal with the main problem. In addition, the major challenges that must be overcome in the growth of the construction industry are globalization, culture, and the environment.

For its better capability and performance, the construction industry needs to be intentionally enhanced. As well as environmental responsibility in the distribution sector and the profitability and productivity of domestic construction companies, this would result in the improved value for money for industry customers.

Furthermore, globalization is also a major challenge from the perspective of developing countries. This is because many building developments are beyond the capacity of their industries to pursue them. Developing countries must, therefore, import such construction activities. Although this has some advantages, such as the involvement of international finance, it has major setbacks, such as local firms being deprived of the opportunity to grow.

The next major challenge is culture. As said "architect shapes culture", culture means the intangible activities that happen in an area. For contractors, culture has always been a big problem. Culture has become an important area of study and it has been found that every organisation has a culture that is determined by its history, size, corporate objectives and objectives, production technology, the market and the operating environment. Cultural issues are constantly at the forefront, and the ability to manage cultural issues is a determinant of the project and corporate success.

Lastly, the environment. The environment is a challenge that exists due to lack of managerial expertise, financial capital, and legal and administrative structures required to resolve the issue through public and formal education, formulation and regulation, Many countries, mainly developed ones, have taken steps to ensure that materials, techniques and practises are followed by their construction industries that result in operations and goods that have a lower environmental effect. Useful lessons can be learned from these interventions for developed nations, such as government policy, market forces, structural initiatives and the operating environment.

In conclusion, developing countries will face major challenges, especially in the construction industry. All these concerns should be addressed by the overarching problem of construction industry growth. In other words, developing countries should seek to develop construction industries that are well-suited to benefit from globalisation, businesses and practitioners who are aware of, and actively seek to limit, the negative environmental impact of their activities and who effectively apply local culture to facilitate their efforts to achieve success in their projects.
